Novak Djokovic was at his funniest best as the Serb kept the crowd entertained during an exhibition match against Australian star Nick Kyrgios at Melbourne Park on Friday, January 13.

By India Today Web Desk: Novak Djokovic was at his cheerful best at Melbourne Park as he faced Nick Kyrgios, who has become his good friend on the circuit, in an exhibition match ahead of the Australian Open 2023. The 21-time Grand Slam champion was constantly interacting with fans, who gave him a rousing reception at the iconic venue.

Djokovic was seen interacting with a fan in the middle of the match. As the television cameras panned in on the Serb, the tennis star was seemingly seeking advice on how to deal with serve and win the following point against Kyrgios. Djokovic nodded his head as he walked back to the baseline and served down the T.

The rally ended with Djokovic lobbing the ball over Kyrgios’s head after the Australian star had approached the net to close out the rally. Djokvic was seen returning to the fan and thanking him for the piece of advice.

The crowd erupted, applauding Djokovic’s ability to keep them entertained.

Djokovic then sarcastically fired his coach and former Wimbledon champion Goran Ivanisevic with the Croatian seeing the funny side of it whilst watching on the sidelines.

Djokovic had fun as he lit up the Melbourne crowd, days ahead of his Australian Open campaign. Djokovic finished second-best in the exhibition match in which the two players teamed up with local stars, including wheelchair tennis players.

Djokovic was stunned when he learned that ‘lets’ were allowed in the exhibition match after casually returning a serve that tapped the net before crossing it.

Djokovic has been in fine form in the lead-up to the season’s first Grand Slam tournament. The Serb defeated Sebastian Korda in the final after outclassing the likes of Daniil Medvedev and Denis Shapovalov.

Djokovic will begin his Australian Open campaign against Roberto Carballes Baena. He is likely to face Nick Kyrgios in the quarter-final of what promises to be a blockbuster men’s singles draw.
