By India Today Web Desk: West Indies white ball captain Nicholas Pooran stepped down as the white ball captain of the international side, half a month after their debacle in the T20 World Cup. West Indies failed to qualify for the Super-12 stages of the T20 World Cup, the first time that the two-time champions made to enter the main draw.

Pooran, who was awarded the captaincy by the board after sidelining legendary Kieron Pollard, leaves his mantle less the six months of being appointed in the post. In a lengthy post via his social media accounts, Pooran said that he felt like this was the right decision for the team, and it will given them ample time to prepare for the next ICC tournaments.

Cricket West Indies, the board that handles the international team had appointed Pooran as the captain for the 2022 edition of the T20 World Cup, as well as the 2023 edition of the ODI World Cup. At the time Shae Hope was appointed as the deputy.
