T20 World Cup 2022: Virat Kohli was seemingly disappointed with a mix-up in the middle with Dinesh Karthik that led to the run-out of the veteran wicketkeeper-batter. Kohli top-scored with 64 not out as India posted 184 in 20 overs vs Bangladesh.

By India Today Web Desk: Former captain Virat Kohli had a fiery discussion with Dinesh Karthik in the middle in Adelaide as India took on Bangladesh in a crucial Super 12 match of T20 World Cup 2022 on Wednesday, November 2. Kohli was seemingly unimpressed with the way Karthik ran between the wickets that led to the latter’s run-out in the death overs of the high-intensity match at the Adelaide Oval, which was packed to the rafters.

Dinesh Karthik was run-out for 7 from 5 deliveries in the 17th over after the wicketkeeper-batter was involved in a mix-up. Karthik seemingly did not respond to Kohli’s signal to not go for a single as he a wide full toss straight to the short cover fielder. From the visuals, it looked like it was Karthik’s call and Kohli was telling him that there was no single on offer.

Shakib Al Hasan quickly got around the ball in the cover region and threw it to the bowler, Shoriful Islam who broke the stumps. Karthik was well short of the crease as he did not have enough time to turn back and take return to the non-striker’s end.

Even as the run-out decision was sent to the third umpire, Kohli was having an animated chat with Dinesh Karthik, probably telling him that there was no run on offer and the single was too risky. Eventually, Karthik was ruled run-out and the senior wicketkeeper-batter was disappointed with himself as he walked back to the pavilion.

Karthik’s poor run in the T20 World Cup continued as the veteran wicketkeeper has managed just 14 runs in 3 innings in Australia.

India lost a bit of momentum towards the end of the innings in the Super 12 match against Bangladesh as Karthik, Hardik Pandya and Axar Patel departed for single figures in quick succession. However, R Ashwin hit a 6-ball 13, smashing a six and a four in the final over to help India’s total reach 184 for 6 in 20 overs.

Virat Kohli top-scored for India with a 44-ball 64 not out, his 3rd fifty-plus score in T20 World Cup 2022 while KL Rahul showed signs of a return to form with a 31-ball fifty.

Notably, Virat Kohli was also invovled in an argument with Bangladesh captain Shakib over a no-ball call but the two star cricketers played the incident down on the field.
