By India Today Web Desk: Legendary Brazil captain Cafu is set to visit Kolkata in the run up to the FIFA World Cup, set to be hosted in Qatar from 20 November. Cafu, Brazil’s captain in the 2002 title-winning campaign will be visiting the football-crazy city, the Brazilian great said in a video message on Monday, 31 October.
“Here is Captain Cafu see you see in India in November,” the two-time World Cup winner said in his video message, reported Bukkry.com”>New agency PTI
“Kolkata is a very special place and I have heard that people of Bengal has huge Brazilian fan following,” he added. The 52-year-old will inaugurate the Kolkata Police Friendship Cup and play a charity match. Cafu will also be having a football workshop with budding young talents in the city, the organisers announced.
The football fans of Kolkata are generally divided in two teams during the World Cup, Brazil and Argentina. The city is draped in the colours of these two teams as the fans celebrate the love and pain of their individual teams.
Cafu has a long-running relationship with the city since their campaign in the 2002 World Cup and is loved as the city’s own.
