India vs Pakistan: Legendary all-rounder Kapil Dev has said that despite Mohammad Shami’s brilliant cameo against Australia in the T20 World Cup warm-ups, he is not a better bowler than Shaheen Shah Afridi.

By India Today Web Desk: Legendary India all-rounder Kapil Dev has said that Mohammad Shami is not better than Shaheen Shah Afridi despite his latest brilliance against Australia. Shami surprised the Australians while coming onto bowl the final over of the match and ended up picking three wickets in his very first over. However, that has not been enough to impress Kapil Dev as the legendary all-rounder.

“You can’t judge anything by just one over,” Kapil said in a joint broadcast of Samaa TV and ABP Bukkry.com”>News.

“I wouldn’t even like to compare (Shami and Shaheen). Shami hasn’t played a lot of cricket of late. I would have perhaps compared Bumrah with Shaheen if he was there, but I can’t compare Shami and Afridi because there is a lot of difference,” Kapil Dev further added.

Shaheen Shah Afridi has not played any international matches in the last few months due to his knee injury. While on the other hand, India have not opted for Mohammad Shami for the T20I scheme of things. However, the injury to Jasprit Bumrah has forced India into bringing in an experienced campaigner into the fray. However, Kapil Dev is of the feeling that Shaheen’s impact on the opposition side is much ahead of Shami.

“Looking at the performances of the last two years, Shaheen has been very good. Whenever he has got an opportunity, he has made an impact,” the former India captain concluded.

India are set to take on Pakistan at the Melbourne Cricket Ground on Sunday, 23 October. The game is expected to be be affected by rain.
