Manchester United manager Erik Ten Hag has said that the main problem with the team at the moment is the lack of intensity after their 3-2 win over Omonia Nicosia in the UEFA Europa League on Thursday.

Ten Hag’s men were forced to comeback from a one-goal deficit in the first half thanks to a brace from Marcus Rashford and a fine goal from Antony Martial in the second 45 minutes.

However, United looked very inconsistent throughout the game on Thursday and they failed to put away a lot of their chances as well.

Speaking to the reporters after the match, as quoted by Reuters, Ten Hag said that United will have to learn their lessons and carry on. The Dutch tactician admitted that the team isn’t that good at the moment and the main issue is the lack of intensity during matches.

He said that the players would have to take responsibility for that.

“We have to carry on and every time learn the lessons and give the maximum, because only good for me is good enough – and at this moment, by far, we are not that good,” Ten Hag told reporters.

“We have seen on Sunday and we have to do much better. I think the main problem is, and that is what we did in games before much better – intensity.

“We have to bring every game the intensity on the pitch. That was the big difference between City and us, so that is the demand to our squad, to all of our players, you have to take responsibility for that.”

United were thrashed by Manchester City in their last Premier League game after a fine run of four straight wins. Ten Hag’s team will now look to get their campaign back on track against Everton on Sunday in the league.
