Irfan Pathan won the toss for Bhilwara Kings and chose to field first. Bhilwara Kings started the game off on the front foot, picking up three India Capitals wickets in quick succession. Captain Gautam Gambhir was the first to fall, as he was dismissed by spinner Monty Panesar. Then, Rahul Sharma struck twice as he got rid of Hamilton Masakadza and Dinesh Ramdin in the same over. Dwayne Smith was the next to walk back to the pavilion as Panesar picked up his second wicket of the day.

Ross Taylor and Mitchell Johnson then struck a 126-run partnership to turn the game’s tide. Johnson scored 62 runs off 35 balls before being dismissed by Tim Bresnan. While, Taylor made 82 runs off 41 deliveries before Rahul Sharma claimed his third wicket. Sharma then went on to pick his fourth wicket of the day in the form of Liam Plunkett as the India Capitals finished their innings with 211 for 7 on the board.

In the second innings, Morne van Wyk was the first to fall for the Bhilwara Kings, when he was dismissed by the dangerous Mitchell Johnson. William Potterfield was the next to depart the field as Pawan Suyal claimed his first wicket of the day. Suyal then doubled his wicket tally by picking Yusuf Pathan’s wicket in the sixth over.

Jesal Karia looked good for a while but was dismissed by Plunkett after scoring 22 runs off 17 balls. Shane Watson quickly followed Karia back to the pavilion after scoring 27 runs off 19 deliveries. Bhilwara Kings captain Irfan Pathan couldn’t make much of a difference as he was dismissed by Pankaj Singh, leaving his team at 81 for 6.
