WhatsApp rolled out the Instagram-like Channels feature earlier this year. The one-way broadcast feature allowed individuals, businesses and organisations to share messages, videos and photos with their followers. Now, a report suggests that Whatsapp is rolling out a new capability for beta users.

WABetainfo says that Channel Admins can now send voice messages and stickers. This ability is under development and will be rolled out for Android testers.

“It appears that WhatsApp is currently developing new features for channel administrators to enhance their interactions with their followers. Thanks to the latest WhatsApp beta for Android 2.23.23.2 update, which is available on the Google Play Store, we discovered that WhatsApp plans to add a voice message and sticker feature to channels in the future,” WABetaInfo said.

As mentioned, currently admins are restricted to sharing text messages, photos, videos and GIFs within a channel. This ability is aimed at making communication more effective and engaging with channel followers.

Message reaction filter
The Meta-owned app is also working on a message reaction filter for Channels. The feature will make it easier to see which contacts have reacted to channel updates.

Admins will see a new filter when viewing the reaction list for channel updates. This feature is available to some beta testers.

“With this filter, channel admins can view individual reactions from their contacts, providing them with a new feature to get valuable insights into how their contacts are receiving and reacting to the content they share on their channels,” WABetainfo said.

The feature is set to bring an additional layer of interaction and feedback from contacts when you share a new channel update. This will also help channel admins to better understand which updates capture the attention of their contacts.
