A video depicting an ‘unorthodox’ marketing stunt featuring a female model without wearing a helmet donning a Zomato branded shirt has gone viral. To reply to the video, the popular food delivery app took to social media to provide clarity on the matter. Zomato’s CEO, Deepinder Goyal, used his official X account to share a tweet addressing the situation.

In the X post, Goyal wrote: “Hey! We had absolutely nothing to do with this. We don’t endorse helmet-less biking. Also, we don’t have an Indore Marketing Head. This seems to be someone just “free-riding” on our brand. Having said that, there’s nothing wrong with women delivering food – we have hundreds of women who deliver food every day to earn a livelihood for their families, and we are proud of their work ethic.”

Why Zomato made this statement
This statement serves the purpose of disassociating Zomato from the viral video and making it explicit that the company did not approve or back such a marketing stunt.

Goyal also focused on the essential contribution made by Female Delivery partners in their workforce, to emphasise Zomato’s dedication to gender diversity and inclusivity.

The video was initially shared by the verified Twitter account of Rajiv Mehta (@rajivmehta19). Zomato’s clarification arrives as the controversy surrounding the video persists, gaining widespread attention on social media and in the news.

In this video, a “female model” was seen riding a sports motorcycle, wearing an attire typically associated with Zomato’s delivery partners while carrying an empty Zomato bag. The video also showed the model riding the bike without a helmet. Goyal also noted that the company doesn’t endorse helmet-less riding.
