Nothing has announced that it has started rolling out Android 14-based Nothing OS 2.5 – the London-based company’s “most significant update since the launch of OS 2.0 – for Nothing Phone 2. This prompted Nothing Phone (1) users to ask about the latest Android update for their smartphones. The CEO has now announced the timeline for the Beta release.
In a tweet, Nothin CEO Carl Pei said that the company has “lots of work and lots to look forward to in anticipation of the full launch of Nothing OS 2.5.” He also asked feedback from Nothing Phone (2) owners about the update.
“Phone (2) users: Have a go and let us know how to improve Nothing OS 2.5 before the official release!,” he said in a post on X.
“Phone (1) users: Please hang tight, we’re putting the final touches in place and the open beta is coming before end of year,” the CEO added.

Nothing OS:
- Updated the widgets library interface so Nothing widgets appear more clearly.
- New photos widget, allowing you to display your favourite photos on both your Home Screen and Lock Screen.

- Made it possible to set ringtone and notification sound volumes separately, with an updated volume control interface.
- Added regional settings so you can customise your unit and number preferences
How to get Nothing OS 2.5 beta version
- Ensure you have installed NOS version 2.0.3
- Download the following APK and install it from your downloads.
- Navigate to Settings > System > Update to Beta version.
- Tap “Check for new version” and follow the steps to get started.
