Universal Technical Institute (UTI) has been awarded a spot on the Military Friendly Schools annual list, an acknowledgment that goes back as far as 2011 for the automotive trade school. The 2023 nod points specifically to on-base training programs, done in partnership with BMW and Premier Truck Group, designed to prepare active service members nearing the end of their military service obligations for careers as automotive or diesel technicians. "The award is given to the top colleges, universities, community colleges, and trade schools in the country that work to embrace military students and dedicate resources to ensure their success in the classroom and the workforce," UTI said in a statement.

Getting that Military Friendly Schools nod is based on "public data sources and responses from a proprietary survey. Over 1,800 schools participated in the 2023-2024 survey," said the organization. In addition to its list of top schools, it awards military-friendly companies and brands, which have included Roush and Hyundai. Additionally, UTI's Salute to Service Grant gives veterans a 10-percent discount on tuition.
