While this particular style may not illicit intense reactions the way that skinny jeans or mom jeans tend to, they're a stealthy OOTD staple and you can't convince us otherwise. However, this relatively low-key silhouette, also seen on trousers, can be intimidating to try. This button fly, dark indigo selvedge pair will be stiff at first, but it will break in beautifully over time. "It's a material that will last forever and will mold to your body," says Collins.

What To Consider When Shopping For Men's Jeans

Whether you're sporting a designer pair with a classic button-down or a skinnier fit with your favorite tee, a well-fitting pair of jeans just looks great on any guy. Therein lies the rub: well-fitting. While jeans range in price, material and size, you want to get the fit just right. Here's what to look for when you're trying to figure out your size (what's an "inseam?"), your fit (from skinny to straight to relaxed) and more.

The Size

The first step in shopping for a pair of jeans is knowing your size. That means knowing how they fit at the waist, and at the inseam—the inseam being the length of the pants from waist to ankle.

"The best way to determine the size of your jeans is by measuring your waist circumference in inches and to get the correct length, you simply measure the inner leg," says fashion stylist Josephine Eve. That's definitely the right place to start; but there's a little more to it.

"Most men wear too long an inseam," says Alison Deyette, style expert and TV and digital host. "Your jeans should really hit at the top of where your laces are—so the middle of where your laces are on your sneaker."

Not the right size right away? Don't be afraid of the tailor. "You can find an inexpensive tailor," says Deyette, who recommends asking your dry cleaners. "When you take jeans in to get hemmed, tell them to match the hem," she says. Meaning, you want a tailor to save the hem on the jeans so that they look like how you bought them; namely, the same thread color.

The Style

There are many, many (many) styles of jeans out there—from skinny fit to tapered to straight fit to a more relaxed fit. Determining which one is right for you will always depend on how your legs are shaped and how you want to look. But in general, says Deyette, most men always go too baggy.

"I would say the average man really should be wearing a straight fit," she says. "And more and more these days, even if a man has a little more of a belly, usually most men can do a slim fit."

Eve agrees. "Slim fit is the most popular of the styles for men. In my opinion, it's the most flattering and suits a variety of body shapes," she says. "Slim fit is more fitted around the upper leg—less fitting around the lower leg—and has about ½ an inch of room around the calf and ankle." This makes a slim fit the most form-fitting for the vast majority of guys—without being skintight. It's the Goldilocks of how you want your jeans to look.

If you need a roomier fit, regular or relaxed fit will give you an inch or two of room in the thighs and calves. If you're really athletic or a larger man, that extra room can come in handy and may even be form-fitting. But the general rule holds: when in doubt, go with slim, at least to start. This fit will generally be the most attractive of the options, and flatter you by not looking too roomy or sloppy.

The Denim Type

There are many different denim types when it comes to shopping for jeans. The gold standard for most guys who love their jeans is often selvedge.

"Selvedge refers to the self-finished edge of woven fabric, particularly denim," says Eve. "It is a tightly woven band on both edges of denim fabric that prevents fraying and unraveling. Selvedge denim is mostly reputable for its quality, durability and heritage appeal."

While selvedge jeans are the standard, they are more expensive and less pliable, because selvedge itself refers to self-finished edge of the fabric that prevents it from unraveling—making it tough as nails. "Selvedge is something that you introduce to someone who's really almost a denim connoisseur," says Deyette, "and has a bit of a denim wardrobe already."

There are plenty of other types of denim that are more affordable and have a less rugged feel—perfect for work or the weekend. "Other notable denim types out there include stretch denim with added elasticity, raw denim left unwashed for personalized fading and Japanese denim known for exceptional quality and craftsmanship." A good rule of thumb to start with: Look for stretch denim, which can give you a little extra room to move in should you need it. This type of jean is made with a mix of cotton and spandex or elastane.

The Price

Jeans range wildly in price, but whether you spend $30 or $300 is almost always determined by the quality of the denim. Deyette says you should think of a good pair of jeans as a small investment in looking great.

"I call it the cost per wear ratio," she says. "Most men are wearing jeans on a regular basis, so I break it down: You buy a pair of jeans. It should last in your wardrobe for five-plus years if you haven't changed size. So if you just spent $185 on these jeans, and the amount of times you're wearing them, it becomes pretty cheap to wear them once you break it out by several years."

That $200 pair of jeans now doesn't sound so expensive, does it? Eve completely agrees—going a little for broke can be worth it. "I'd expect to pay at least $200-plus for a good quality pair of jeans," she says. "Investing in your jeans is one of the best decisions you can make for your wardrobe, as they're such a great classic staple that you'll get a lot of wear out of, if you choose the right quality and style for you."

How Often Should I Wash My Jeans?

The short answer on how often you should wash jeans: less often than you think. "You could get away wearing the same pair of jeans at least five times," says Deyette. "If they don't have stains or anything and they're still looking fresh, wait five-plus times to throw them in the wash." This helps your jeans keep their shape and prevents any shrinking. Five washes is a somewhat arbitrary number, though; you only really need to wash denim after it feels or looks dirty—or starts to smell. Please.

Most importantly to avoid shrinking, do not put your jeans in the dryer; let them air dry. "Especially for jeans that have stretch," says Deyette, "because anything with stretch, the more often you put those fabrics in the dryer, the more you break down their fibers."

When you do end up washing your jeans, be careful what you throw them in with. "I would avoid putting jeans in with heavy garments in the wash as items can get tangled in and around your jeans," says Eve. "That can stretch them as well." To keep you jeans wrinkle-free when air-drying, try laying them on a flat surface as opposed to hanging them up.

What Jeans Are Best For My Body Type?

Figuring out the best jeans for your body type may take a little trial and error. Deyette recommends trying on several pairs in different fits to determine which is the best for you. "Shop online and order several pairs," she says. Once you get a few pairs, Deyette recommends asking a friend or significant other for their thoughts on each fit. "Ask your friend, ask your wife, ask your girlfriend," she says. If you're going shopping alone, take a picture of you wearing the jeans, from both front and back, and send to someone whose style and opinion you trust.

Not sure where to start? Eve has a few recommendations. "If you have a skinny build including your legs, then opt for a skinny leg or slim leg jean," she says. "If you have an average build with broader shoulders than your hips, then I would recommend a slim leg or tapered fit. If you have a rounder midsection, then I would recommend either slim fit or regular fit jeans. And if your thighs are bigger in proportion to your body, I would go for a slim-straight or regular fit jeans."

Should I Cuff My Jeans Or Not?

Yes, you can absolutely cuff your jeans—it's just not as common anymore. It'll add a laidback dimension to your look, however, and will look great in the right setting. "Cuffing your hems can look effortlessly stylish in the right setting, especially for more of a relaxed look," says Eve. "I am noticing a lot more guys cuffing their jeans with sneakers and with loafers on the weekends."

Deyette agrees—with one caveat. Shorter guys should probably avoid cuffing their jeans if possible. "If you're a little on the shorter side, a cuffed jean can make you appear even shorter," she says. "We're not getting that slim, long line. But I think a cuffed jean can be fun if you're wearing an Oxford or a slip-on sneaker and you just want to be more casual."

There's a difference between cuffing and bunching, of course. Cuffing is intentionally rolling up your jeans; bunching just means your jeans are too long. When you wear jeans that haven't been hemmed and are just bunching up at the ankles, it will absolutely look sloppy.

Taylor Swift's Easy, Breezy Summer Outfit Just Proves Your Denim Mini Skirt Will Never Go Out Of Style

Taylor Swift's summer style is effortlessly cool.

The singer-songwriter, 33, was photographed on Tuesday visiting Electric Lady Studios in New York City, dressed in the perfect casual summer look. Her easy, breezy outfit featured a white ruffle-trimmed eyelet cotton blouse by Doên and a Free People light-wash denim wrap skort that showed off her long legs.

Always one to not just be on trend but set the trends, Swift proved with her skort that a denim skort or denim mini skirt is always a stylish way to stay cool in the summer — and it goes with everything.

She made a statement with her shoes, a pair of G.H. Bass caramel-colored Mary Jane loafers with a woven pattern on the upper and black lugged bottoms, which gave her ensemble a hint of retro charm. Her hair was swept up in a loose bun, with her signature bangs framing her face.

She carried a summery two-tone raffia purse as she smiled for photographers, drawing attention to her bold red lip color.

The "Anti-Hero" singer is currently in the middle of the U.S. Leg of her highly anticipated Eras Tour, which is taking her to packed stadiums around the country. Her shows have been star-studded affairs, with everyone from Miles Teller, Drew Barrymore, Reese Witherspoon and Paul Rudd stepping out to catch her three-hour-long sets.

After her last U.S. Concert in Los Angeles on Aug. 9, the hitmaker will take a brief break before heading to Latin America for 12 shows. Last week, she announced that she'll follow that up with a second, larger international tour leg that will kick off in Tokyo and make stops in major cities including Melbourne, Australia; Singapore; Paris; London; Dublin; Amsterdam; Zürich; and Milan.

"EXCUSE ME HI I HAVE SOMETHING TO SAY 🙋‍♀️ I can't wait to see so many of you on The Eras Tour next year at these new international dates!" Swift wrote in an Instagram post announcing the second international leg.

The "Lavender Haze" singer is also gearing up for the July 7 release of Speak Now (Taylor's Version), which will include six brand-new songs from the vault.

After thrilling fans with a mid-concert announcement about the album drop at her May 5 show in Nashville, she followed up with more information on Instagram, writing, "It fills me with such pride and joy to announce" her version of the album.

"I first made Speak Now, completely self-written, between the ages of 18 and 20. The songs that came from this time in my life were marked by their brutal honesty, unfiltered diaristic confessions and wild wistfulness," she continued.

She concluded the post, writing, "I love this album because it tells a tale of growing up, flailing, flying and crashing … and living to speak about it. With six extra songs I've sprung loose from the vault, I absolutely cannot wait to celebrate Speak Now (Taylor's Version) with you."
