WEDDING season has begun and that means getting dressed up.

The rules for weddings have changed dramatically in the last 20 years.

Women often wear suits whilst the blokes can be seen in pastels and even shorts.

But the relaxed dressed codes still don't make getting an outfit together any easier.

Do you wear a dress or a co-ord? A hat or hair band? A block or a stiletto heel?

It can be stressful.

But there are a few looks you should avoid when attending someone's nuptials.

Here Fabulous' Fashion Editor Clemmie Fieldsend reveals what you should avoid at weddings.

CUT OUTS

To be clear, a small cut-out or two is fine, but turning up to a wedding in a thread bare frock isn't going to go down well.

Kendall Jenner received huge backlash when she was seen in a multi-cut out dress at her pal's wedding.

WHITE

Let the woman have her day and don't wear white - or cream.

If you're going to a wedding, likelihood is you're a close friend of the bride so don't turn a day that is all about her into a day where your friendship ends.

One woman was dubbed the "worst wedding guest ever" by taking it one step further and wearing an actual bridal gown to her pals' nuptials.

A white or cream dress with a colourful or monochrome pattern is fine, just make sure the majority of your outfit isn't the same colour as the bride's.

CROP TOPS

Low slung waists and crop tops seem to be everywhere thanks to the return on noughties trends that we thought we'd said goodbye to.

But there's a time and a place and a wedding isn't one of them.

Whilst you may look amazing in the outfit you might still the attention away from the bride when everyone does a double take at you arriving in what could be a bikini top.

If you can't resist the urge, remember to opt for a long-line top and high waisted trousers to eliminate so much on show.

SHEER

See-through outfits are attention stealing.Credit: Getty

See-through dresses are loved by celebrities like Florence Pugh and Emily Ratajkowski and are a hit on the high street, but not for weddings.

Bridal gowns with sheer inserts and detailing are hugely popular, so similar to avoiding white you should avoid sheer so you don't clash with the bride.

Plus the general rule is to be polite and not wear anything that's going to be more eye-catching than the bride.

One guest was slammed for doing exactly that when she wore a see-through dress to a friend's big day.

25 Of The Best White Wedding Suits For The Modern Bride

Not that it's anyone's business but yours, but there are many reasons to choose something other than a traditional wedding gown to wear on your special day. Don't get us wrong, we're always game to see what out-of-this-world dress a royal or Hollywood A-lister walks down the aisle in, but suits have carved out a rightful place in the zeitgeist. Many factors have likely led to the rise in popularity of the alternative espousal ensemble.

The expanding liberties of the LGBTQ+ community have certainly played a role in the mainstream acceptance of women wearing wedding suits. If Google search trends are any indication, there seems to be a correlation between progress towards marriage equality and the demand for bridal suiting. Search trends show that 2004 was the year with the highest searches on record for "women's wedding suits," which happens to be the same year that gay marriage was officially legalized in Massachusetts. Since then there has been a pattern of spikes following key victories for equality, but none close to that first year.

In addition to the rejection of traditional gender roles, there's also been a movement toward crafting an individual sense of personal style. This combination of societal shifts has resulted in more women wearing pants than any other generation in their day-to- day lives, which for some is also translating to what they wear to the altar. So whether a suit is simply more aligned with your sartorial senses, affirming of your identity, or just plain comfier, we've found picks for a range of tastes and budgets. Ahead, 25 wedding suits that are just waiting for you to say "I do."

Here at Parade.Com, we're all about sharing products we love with our audience. When you make a purchase on an item seen on this page, we may earn a commission, however, all picks are independently chosen unless otherwise mentioned.

Constructed with a cowl detail at each shoulder, the draping fabric creates a beautifully shaped jacket while adding dimension to the entire ensemble. Styled with form fitting pants that flare out every so gradually, this suit exudes a powerful elegance. 22. Veronica Roya Dickey Jacket, $748 at Revolve and Veronica Beard Judy Pant, $479 at Revolve © Revolve Revolve

Made from a structured jersey in a barely off-white tone, this Veronica Beard jacket and coordinating trouser set is among those lucky few. The fitted jacket has padded shoulders, a single button front closure, three front pockets and a wider than average lapel. The pants are form fitting throughout the hips and thighs with a seam down the front of each leg that creates an elongating visual effect. White buttons with a gold ring perimeter adorn the set, adding a final intriguing detail. Veronica Roya Dickey Jacket, $748 at Revolve and Veronica Beard Judy Pant, $479 at Revolve

23. Diotima Tower Crochet-Detailed Blazer, $1,035 at Moda Operandi and Diotima Tower Crochet-Detailed Pants, $795 at Moda Operandi © Moda Operandi Moda Operandi

More brides than ever are opting for variations on white over the classic bridal hue, and this inventive set is evidence of why. Made from a wool blend material, this suit from the brand Diotima is closer to a warm cream color than to an off-white ivory. The label's founder Rachel Scott is known for integrating hand-woven crochet pieces into her line, crafted by a collective of women artisans in Jamaica where she was born. The signature "web doily" style is expertly inserted into each side of the jacket body and at the hips of the pants. The suit has otherwise minimal tailoring details to let the crochet take center stage. Diotima Tower Crochet-Detailed Blazer, $1,035 at Moda Operandi and Diotima Tower Crochet-Detailed Pants, $795 at Moda Operandi

The oversized proportion on the jacket and cropped straight leg trouser creates a somewhat relaxed fit that offsets the extravagance of the detail that's sure to be commanding eyes. Bright white authentic ostrich feathers embellish both the sleeve and pant hems, adding fun movement and texture to the look. We love how the model online is wearing a camisole that matches the brilliant hue of the feathery trim, which makes it pop even more. Magda Butrym Feather-Trimmed Wool-Twill Blazer, $2,825 at Net-a-Porter and Magda Butrym Feather-Trimmed Wool-Twill Straight-Leg Pants, $1,555 at Net-a-Porter

The Most Stylish Suits For Women

When most of us think about suits for women, the first word that comes to mind is boring or old and that's simply because suits have been around for ages. But not all suits are boring, at least not the current designs.

Skirt Suits For Women.

Here are some of the trendy skirt suits for women:

The Classic Skirt Suit. © Provided by YAZA Africa Photo by SHEIN

This consists of a blazer and a skater skirt that sits at a woman's true waist and flares out from the waistline to create a playful and feminine silhouette.

The skater skirt can vary in length but most women prefer it at knee length, or just above the knee.

A pleated skirt suit has a skirt with pleats (vertical folds in the fabric) which add volume and movement to the skirt. Pleats are made by doubling the material and ironing or sewing the fold into place to form a long-lasting crease.

Pants Suits For Women.

Here are some of the pantsuit styles for women:

Pencil Pantsuit. © Provided by YAZA Africa Photo by NEXT

The wide-legged pants suit is a modern and stylish alternative to traditional pencil cut sus. It consists of tailored pants with a loose, flowing silhouette that widens from the hip down to the hemline, creating a relaxed and comfortable fit. The loose-fitting trouser is often paired with a fitted jacket.

Tuxedo Suits For Women. The tuxedo suit for women is often worn at formal occasions like black-tie events and weddings and it is a sophisticated, stylish option for women who want to make a statement in such events. Ankara Pantsuits. © Provided by YAZA Africa Photo by Mahdera Boutique

Short suits are a stylish and modern take on the more traditional skirt and pantsuits for women where tailored shorts are paired with a blazer.

The shorts are often paired with a fitting or slightly big matching jacket to create a polished and professional look or a short jacket (with a crop top underneath) to create a more chic and young look.

Additionally, the short suit can also be made out of Ankara or Kitenge fabric for that authentic African look.
