It is well knowledge that he only spent a total of six months enrolled in the primary school and that he was born under mysterious conditions. Aliu Fakoya, his father, was a Muslim and an Ifa priest from Oke-Imesi, while his mother was from Iloro-Ekiti.

Both of his parents were from Nigeria. Aliu Fakoya took his son Jimoh along with him on his travels as an itinerant Ifa Priest and Diviner. Aliu joined the Ogungbe Theatre in 1959 and was a member of the company until 1966. Through his work with Ogungbe Theatre, he visited the majority of towns in what is now the states of Ogun, Oyo, Osun, Ondo, and Ekiti. 1966 was the year that he parted ways with Ogungbe Theatre and established Jimoh Aliu Concert Party. This organization had its headquarters in Ikare Akoko, which is located in Ondo State.

His career reached a turning point with the production of the television play Igbo Olodumare, which was based on a novel written by D.O. Fagunwa and commissioned by Yemi Farounbi in his capacity as General Manager of NTV Akure. The program was such a big hit in Ondo State, that it continues to represent, to this day, the most inventive program that any Television Station in Ondo State has ever produced.

Igbo Olodumare was broadcast in all of the states where Yoruba is spoken, having been broadcast on NTA Ilorin, NTA Abeokuta, NTA Akure, and BCOS-TV in Ibadan. His other television drama series, titled Igba Oro, was created by Yemi Fareunbi Labs Deroy Centre Limited. It was broadcast on OSRC-TV Ibadan, NTA Abeokuta, NTA Ikeja, OSRC TV Akure, and NTA Ilorin. Jimoh Aliu is a versatile actor who has appeared in a number of Ogunde’s films in a variety of roles, including that of actor, make-up artist, and costume designer, among others.
