On Saturday, November 4, 2023, South Floridians are invited to HistoryMiami Museum’s seventh annual, free folklife festival, CultureFest 305. The public will immerse themselves in the vibrant diversity that makes Miami, Miami. From the rhythmic beats of Afro-Cuban batá drumming to the enchanting dances of Argentina and Serbia, CultureFest 305 offers an extraordinary lineup of performances and activities that embrace the city’s cultural diversity. From 10 a.m.– 4 p.m., attendees can also savor the authentic flavors of Haiti through traditional food demonstrations and an array of mouthwatering food vendor options thoughtfully curated by Burger Beast. The festival is sponsored by Café Bustelo and the National Endowment for the Arts.

“This festival is a true celebration of what makes Miami, Miami,” said Vanessa Navarro Maza, Folklife Curator at HistoryMiami Museum. “CultureFest 305 provides a space for the Community to connect, explore, and experience the vibrant traditions that contribute to our city’s rich cultural life.”

Located on HistoryMiami’s plaza at 101 West Flagler Street, Miami, the festival schedule is as follows:

• 11:00 AM – Association of Performing Arts of India, Indian classical music performance on sitar
• 11:30 AM – Liliane Nerette-Louis, Marie Romaine Desir, and Marie Reole Moncy, Haitian traditional food demonstration
• 12:00 PM – Milos Damnjanovic, Serbian traditional dance
• 12:30 PM – Ezequiel Torres, Everglades National Park, and the National Council for the Traditional Arts, Exploring the natural environment in Afro-Cuban Orisha spiritual practices
• 1:00 PM – Rocío Leguizamón y Germán Filipeli, Argentine tango
• 1:20 PM – DJ Memo of Scratch DJ Academy, DJing and turntablism
• 1:45 PM – Mariachi Sol de Oro, Mariachi music
• 2:30 PM – Sangwon Jeong, Korean Taekwondo demonstration and workshop
• 3:05 PM – Kuyayky Foundation, Andean music and dance parade
• 3:15 PM – Ezequiel Torres, Afro-Cuban Orisha batá drum and dance

In addition to captivating performances and presentations, CultureFest 305 will feature interactive demonstrations throughout the day. Attendees can take part in Haitian, Serbian, and Bolivian food demonstrations, enjoy a live art show featuring local visual artists presented by Yo Miami, and learn about Carnival costume making and steel pan music.

“We have curated a jam-packed afternoon of performances, demonstrations, and activities for individuals of all ages,” said Natalia Crujeiras, CEO of HistoryMiami Museum.

“CultureFest305 offers the community an opportunity to come together, celebrate their heritage, and embrace the cultural diversity that defines Miami.”

The event will also feature captivating cultural stories presented by the Miami-Dade Public Library System, engaging art activities for children of all abilities by Zot Artz “Arts for All”, and a Miami Stories recording booth to capture the personal narratives of attendees.
