The Los Angeles Rams are looking to bounce back from a disappointing 5-12 season last year just one year removed from a Super Bowl Championship. Much of their struggles were due to injuries to star Quarterback Matthew Stafford last season.
They have further addressed the depth at the quarterback position on Wednesday in case Stafford goes down again.
The Rams addressed the position in the 2023 NFL Draft, selecting Georgia standout Stetson Bennett with the No. 128 pick.
While he was a successful collegiate quarterback, the team opted to bring in a seasoned veteran with NFL experience into the mix.
Denver Broncos beat reporter Mike Klis reported on Wednesday that former Broncos quarterback Brett Rypien has signed a one-year contract with the Los Angeles Rams.

I don’t think many people thought Brett Rypien would find a new gig before Dalton Risner, but here we are. #BroncosCountry

Rypien has spent the last three seasons with the Broncos as their backup quarterback. He was used sparingly, but did lead the team to a 2-1 record in three career starts.
While the team success is solid from Rypien in his NFL starts, his individual performance left a lot to be desired. In three starts Rypien recorded just 778 passing yards with four touchdowns and eight interceptions.
Perhaps his biggest NFL moment came in his first NFL game when he led the Broncos on a game-winning drive in 2019.

This move isn’t one that that will play a big factor unless Stafford does ultimately get injured again. However, Rypien provides some starting experience at the quarterback position. He will likely compete with Stetson Bennett for the primary backup quarterback job.
