Works report: Rich Strike fires bullet; Caravel returns to training

Kentucky Derby winner Rich Strike worked a bullet Saturday morning at Turfway, breezing five furlongs in 59.6 seconds over their Tapeta track. In his most recent race he finished sixth in the Grade 1 Clark on Nov. 25, and it was his fifth drill since returning to the work tab on Jan. 21. He is possible to make his 4-year-old debut in the Group 1 Dubai World Cup on March 25.

Caravel, the 42-1 winner of the 2022 Breeders’ Cup Turf Sprint, worked Saturday for the first time since that victory. The 6-year-old gray mare worked three furlongs in 37.2 seconds for trainer Brad Cox. A fixture of the filly and mare turf sprint division, she is a 12-time winner who has banked over $1.3 million.
