Disney+ unveils raft of UK unscripted orders – Televisual

At the Edinburgh TV Festival, Disney has revealed a raft of announcements including first looks, celebrity contributor reveals and a brand-new documentary as part of its upcoming slate of UK Original titles for Disney+.

Titles include shows from Raw, Lightbox, North One, Dorothy Street and a Series directed by Asif Kapadia.

It’s been great to see the reactions to Finding Michael and Save Our Squad with David Beckham and I can’t wait for audiences to see what else we’ve been up to and discover stories they may not expect to see on Disney+.”

COLEEN ROONEY: THE REAL WAGATHA STORY

The three-part Disney+ documentary looks at the jaw-dropping libel case that gripped the nation in 2022.  The series will be told through exclusive access to the woman at the heart of it all, Coleen Rooney, alongside interviews with family, friends and key players involved in the resulting trial. Uncovering one of the biggest tabloid news stories in Britain for the last decade, it reveals how Coleen turned amateur online sleuth to find an explanation for why private stories concerning herself and her family continued to appear in the media. The three-part series looks at the circumstances that led to her infamous Instagram post that ‘broke the Internet’ all the way to Coleen successfully defending herself in one of the UK’s highest-profile High Court defamation cases of recent years. As well as the case itself, we will explore how Coleen has had her life played out in public for the last 20 years. We know her as one of Britain’s most famous celebrities and wife of England’s record-scoring footballer Wayne Rooney.

BRAWN: THE IMPOSSIBLE FORMULA 1 STORY

This brand-new unscripted four-part documentary series with Keanu Reeves(“John Wick,” “The Matrix Resurrections”) tells the remarkable story of how, in 2009, competing in the most expensive and technologically advanced racing series on Earth, the impossible happened. An understaffed, underfinanced and independent team won the World Championship – with a team that cost just £1. Go behind the scenes of this Formula 1 fairytale with the people who were there – on the track, in the garage and the boardroom – giving their own thrilling versions of a miraculous year. Expect exclusive access to the F1 archives – much of it previously unseen – from a year that global sport will never forget, with contributions from British F1 driver Jenson Button and Ross Brawn, who led the team to victory.

CAMDEN

How has a small corner of North London changed music as we know it? This evocative series will reveal the extraordinary untold stories of how the lives and careers of many of today’s most iconic music acts were shaped by Camden, alongside some of the careers that were broken by it. With access to some of the biggest music stars in the world whose lives were changed forever by this tiny part of London, this series will finally give Camden the recognition it deserves on a global stage.

In Vogue tells the inside story of the fashion that defined a decade—and the decade that inspired the fashion—celebrated by those who were in the front row and behind the scenes. This series offers unparalleled access to the insights of both Vogue’s top editors, including Anna Wintour, Chief Content Officer, Condé Nast, and Global Editorial Director, Vogue; Edward Enninful, Editor in Chief, British Vogue and European Editorial Director, Vogue; Tonne Goodman, Sustainability Editor, Vogue and Grace Coddington, Contributing Editor – as well as the era’s most influential names. The series will showcase rare, never-before-seen archives from key figures in the industry. Featuring a cast of leading figures from the world of 90s fashion, music, and film, this is a landmark series that will reveal the untold story of the decade’s most celebrated pop cultural moments and movements, told to us by the designers, actors, and musicians who defined them. It is the story of how high fashion and mainstream culture came to influence one another.

WORLD WAR SHOE: ADIDAS VS. PUMA (w/t)

World War Show: Adidas vs. Puma (w/t)” is a thrilling three-part documentary series from Emmy-winning showrunner Morgan Fallon (“Anthony Bourdain: Parts Unknown”, “United States of Shade”), directors Oliver Clark & Blair Macdonald (“Team Khan”) and David Beckham’s Studio 99. It explores the inner workings of two of the biggest sporting brands in the world, with a unique shared history and rivalry.

Through unprecedented access to both companies, the series will uncover the unlikely and surprising tale of two feuding brothers – Adi and Rudi Dassler – whose multi-decade rivalry and competition helped shape the modern sportswear industry. From starting in the quaint German village of Herzogenaurach, to becoming global super brands through partnerships with the biggest names in sport, music, fashion, “World War Shoe: Adidas vs. Puma (w/t)” will explore how these juggernaut sportswear companies changed an industry and influenced sports and popular culture. The series will reveal the often surprising extent of the competition between these two companies over time, and how that rivalry drove innovation and global expansion, and ultimately allowed room for the emergence of Nike.
