For the third consecutive year, the Hamburg Open women’s event will run alongside the men’s tournament. However, unlike the men’s event, which is an ATP 500 competition, this will be a WTA 250 level tournament. 32 players will set their sights on this year’s Hamburg Open title, and it’ll be interesting to see who will reign supreme when it’s all said and done. In this article, we’ll provide our daily WTA Hamburg Open predictions; we’ll also take a look at some of the outright favourites.

WTA Hamburg European Open Predictions – Outright Winner

It may interest you to know that although the Hamburg Open has been played every year on the men’s side, this tournament didn’t hold for almost two decades on the women’s side. As a matter of fact, this will be the third edition of the WTA Hamburg Open since 2003; there are just three active players who have won this tournament in the past.

Being a 250 level event, it’s no surprise that most of the top players on the WTA Tour will not feature at this year’s Hamburg Open. It’s important to note that no player currently ranked inside the WTA top 20 will participate in this competition. As a matter of fact, Donna Vekic is the only player ranked inside the top 35. Although there are a couple of players who will give the Croatian player a run for her money; given the absence of the top players, Vekic is our pick for this year’s Hamburg Open title.

WTA Hamburg Open Favourites

These are the top three favourites to win this year’s Hamburg Open title.

Donna Vekic

At 11/2 (6.50), Donna Vekic is currently favoured over every other player in this tournament. The Croatian player has had a fairly decent run of results these past couple of months; she reached the final of the Berlin Open last month, and has a WTA title to her name this year, after winning the Monterrey Open in March. Vekic is the top seeded player in this competition, and it’ll be interesting to see if she can win her second title of 2023 this weekend.

Mayar Sherif

The second seeded player in this tournament, Mayar Sherif is coming off a semi-final berth at the Palermo Open. It may interest you to know that the Egyptian player was on an 11 match winning streak at some point last month, winning back-to-back Challenger titles in that stretch. To be fair, the last time Sherif won a WTA title was in October last year, when she reigned supreme at the Parma Open. That said, Mayar Sherif’s best results have been on clay courts, and she can be backed at 8/1 (9.00) to win this year’s Hamburg Open title.

Bernarda Pera

Despite not being the pre-tournament favourite, it’s important to note that Bernarda Pera is the defending champion of this competition. The American reigned supreme here in Hamburg last year, winning the crown without surrendering a single set. However, things have not gone too well for Pera recently; as she’s coming into this tournament on the back of four consecutive losses. She’s valued at 9/1 (10.00) to defend her title this week.
