Spring tourism is here! Are we ready? Yes, we are!

Even though it’s just the first week of April, it seems like springtime visitors have already arrived. Almost every day looking outside the front door of the News Office, I can see tourists walking down the sidewalk.

How do I know they are tourists? They take their time looking at every store front, every building. Many of them stop and take pictures in front of the courthouse or in front of the Pioneer Monument on the northwest side of the courthouse lawn. They have gift bags and totes much of the time.

And San Saba is ready! The Keep San Saba Beautiful ladies have the flower beds and flower pots filled with beautiful flowers of vibrant colors.

Many of the shops have their inviting signs out on the sidewalk welcoming customers to a San Saba flavor of shopping.

Besides our wonderful shops and restaurants, we also have many other seasonal attractions ready and waiting for them.

Our parks are quite a draw for visitors. Even the ducks are waiting for them to come feed them some bits of bread!

Our museum entrance with a fresh coat of paint started their new season welcoming visitors and members of the community this past weekend.

Pecan Capital Trade Day is in full swing. Last Saturday, there were eight vendors with fully loaded tables. You had your pick! Everything from jewelry to fresh baked goods to hand crocheted creations such as scarves and purses, custom T-shirts to antiques, home canned jellies, jams, and pickles, to homemade decorative candles and beautiful quilts. If you are looking for it, you can probably find it at one of our Pecan Capital Trade Days.

For more fun pictures and information on Pecan Capital Trade Day last Saturday, visit our website on Thursday .

Meanwhile… at the San Saba Civic center

The San Saba Garden Club held their Semi-Annual Garage sale, and it was a huge success!

The SS Garden Club has approximately 30 members, and they enjoyed 100% participation in the event, either contributing or working.

In just two weeks, there will be a huge Trade Days in Richland Springs with over 100 vendors set up at the Feed Lot. Be sure and go out and see what’s on sale! You’ll be able to do your birthday shopping for the rest of the year!

Also just in time for tourist season, our Spring Visitor’s Guide will be out next week as an insert in our April 13th edition! The Spring Visitor’s Guide will be available all year round at the Visitor’s Center. They are also available free of charge at the News Office – 505 E. Wallace Street. Be sure and get yours!

We are beginning to get visitors coming in the News Office to buy papers looking for garage sales, property to buy or to rent.

If you have something you would like to sell, now’s the time for garage sales to be very successful. You can advertise your garage sale in the San Saba News & Star! Give us a call, and we will get your ad set up for you. (325-372-5115) Many of our business owners have chosen to advertise in our Spring Visitor’s Guide. Please support these local business!
