Did Prince Harry’s Childhood Footwear Inspire The Frog Clogs At JW Anderson?

His fashion sense has never been that much of a talking point (apart from the gap year bracelets, but we can’t hold those against him forever can we?). But Prince Harry’s childhood shoes just made a starring appearance on one of the coolest catwalks at the men’s shows in Milan. And they’re something of a statement.

Cast your mind back to 1987. Princes William and Harry, wearing the most adorable sweatshirts, patchwork jeans and baby Barbours, were watching a polo match in Cirencester. While that sentence has probably reached the bounds of relatability for most of us, something that was rather sweet was what they were wearing on their feet. The least cool shoes known to man: welly boots. And not just any wellies: Frog wellies. Sweet mortification!

Of course, outrageous footwear always finds a home in the fashion world. And lo and behold, the heir and the spare have finally been validated by none other than hotshot brand JW Anderson. Staging his most recent show in Milan, Jonathan Anderson sent a pair of frog clogs down his catwalk. As in clogs with frog faces on the front. I kid you not. Not only that, but his model was topless (save for a fabric ‘simcard’ stuck on his chest) and wearing tight white jeans. What do you know? Frog wellies might be best-sellers yet.
