New York’s fabled hockey rivalry takes to the ice Tuesday night as the Rangers will host the Islanders for their second meeting in 12 days.

After an OT victory against Calgary Monday, the Isles will attempt the difficult task of grabbing all four points in a back-to-back against an erratic Rangers team. The Islanders will be at full-health.

New York Rangers: -190 at Caesars Sportsbook

It’s still too early to hit the panic button, but the Rangers have not produced as projected in recent. The 6-4-3 Blueshirts dropped a big litmus-test game against the on-fire Bruins followed by an OT loss to the far inferior Red Wings. So, where does this leave the Rangers? Igor Shesterkin will get his first licks in with the Islanders tonight. The 2022 Vezina Trophy winner is responsible for all six victories thus far and holds a 2.41 GAA. Shesterkin hasn’t has the best fate against the Isles — posting an .889 SV% and 1-8-1 record in his career against them. He’s lost back-to-back starts only nine times in parts of four seasons.

The Rangers have hampered several on-and-off injuries through their 13-game campaign. Ryan Lindgren and Julien Gauthier are both day-to-day and Vitali Kravtsov remains out. The Rangers have the better team 5-on-5 and wield one of the NHL’s most creative, exciting power plays.

Their top six forward group is due to cash in on a much bigger effort Tuesday; specifically Chris Kreider, who was demoted to elicit response.
