Syracuse announces its men’s basketball home opener: Opponent and date in the Dome

Syracuse, N.Y. — The 2023-24 Syracuse men’s basketball team will open its season November 6 in the JMA Wireless Dome against New Hampshire.

The school revealed the opening-day opponent today, after announcing exhibition games against Daemen (Oct. 27) and College of St. Rose (Nov. 1).

It will be the first meeting between the Orange and New Hampshire, which competes in the America East Conference and went 15-15 last season. The Wildcats are coached by Nathan Davis, the former Bucknell head Coach who was named New Hampshire’s new head coach on April 7.

Davis was a two-time Patriot League coach of the year and led his Bison to two NCAA Tournaments in his eight years as Bucknell’s head coach. He was elevated to the top job there from his assistant coach position. Davis worked for one season as a Colgate assistant (2007-08) before getting the head coaching job at his alma mater, Randolph-Macon.

Syracuse, which has a new head coach of its own in Adrian Autry, will play two exhibition games before the season-opener. The Orange will also play in a stacked Maui Invitational from Nov. 20-22 at the Lahaina Civic Center in Hawaii. And it will face Oregon at the Sanford Pentagon in Sioux Falls, S.D., on Dec. 17.

The ACC and SEC will begin a series of games this season, though the schedule and the matchups for that event have yet to be released.
