Lays of the week with Betfair: Lay betting tips for Saturday horse racing

Finding winners is a critical component of punting and a big part of that process is identifying which horses can and can’t win.

Putting a line through a horse not only helps narrow down the field, but it also presents punters with an opportunity to turn a profit on that runner courtesy of Lay Betting – which basically means backing a horse to lose the race.

Betfair is the only wagering platform in Australia that offers punters access to this unique Betting strategy.

Lay betting is just one of the unique benefits that Betfair offers punters – put these tips to work and enjoy better odds on racing and sport.

Here are the horses our tipsters are keen to take on this Saturday …

PUNTERS LAYS

NICK HLUCHANIUK

RANDWICK – Race 4 No. 1 – Cascadian @ $3.20

A small field might help him here, turning it into a sit and sprint. Still, I think he’s a bit short here and have Numerian as the main danger to the favourite. Cascadian did run second to Zaaki in the Mackinnon Stakes over this trip last spring, but was well held behind Duais in the Australian Cup in the autumn. His two runs this campaign hav been solid, but not sure he’s quite at his best and is a risk over a testing 2000m.

James McDonald (59kg)
James Cummings
7yoG (ch) New Approach x Falls of Lora

BET NOW: Race 4 at RandwickJAMES LAMB

Flemington R9 No. 1 – Mr Maestro @ $4.40

It was hard to find a lay on this card given the shorties Visinari (R2) and Giga Kick (R5) both look really hard to beat. I settled on Mr Maestro in the final event, a 1.75L last-start winner over the Flemington 1800m. He tackles the same route here, against similar opposition, but goes from a Heavy 10 to a Good 4. His starting price was $5.50 last start, against Major Beel at $2.05. Here it’s $4.40 versus $7.50, which seems a touch extreme back on a much firmer surface.

Damian Lane (57kg)
Andrew Forsman
3yoC (b) Savabeel x Let Me Roar

BET NOW: Race 9 at Flemington

TOM BIDDINGTON

MORPHETTVILLE PARKS – Race 9 No. 4 – Stadium Of Light @ $2.35

Has flashed ability in his three starts but is yet to register a win and has to overcome the outside alley. Might be happy to take $2.35 in a maiden but not here.

Todd Pannell (58.5kg)
Michael Hickmott
4yoG (b/br) Sacred Falls x Touting

BET NOW: Race 9 at Morphettville
