Lays of the week with Betfair: Lay betting tips for horse racing

Finding winners is a critical component of punting and a big part of that process is identifying which horses can and can’t win.

Putting a line through a horse not only helps narrow down the field, but it also presents punters with an opportunity to turn a profit on that runner courtesy of Lay Betting – which basically means backing a horse to lose the race.

Betfair is the only wagering platform in Australia that offers punters access to this unique Betting strategy.

Lay betting is just one of the unique benefits that Betfair offers punters – put these tips to work and enjoy better odds on racing and sport.

Here are the horses our tipsters are keen to take on this weekend👇

PUNTERS LAYS

NICK HLUCHANIUK

ROSEHILL – Race 7, No. 8 – Espiona @ $4.40

I could certainly end up with egg on my face here, as I wouldn’t be shocked if she came out and blew them away. However, I’m prepared to risk Espiona at the price in the Golden Pendant. She failed to let down as expected in the Sheraco Stakes, wanting to lay in on that occasion. She’s also drawn right out. While she’s been effective being ridden cold, she’s likely to be a couple of pairs further back than her ideal position. Against a good field, she’ll be left with a fair bit of work to do.

James McDonald (55kg)
Chris Waller
4yoM (b) Extreme Choice x Dahooil

BET NOW: Race 7 at Rosehill

TOM BIDDINGTON

MORPHETTVILLE PARKS – Race 6, No. 10 – Daring Move @ $3.90

The mare had everything go right when prevailing last start and this is a tougher assignment. She didn’t go around a runner there but has drawn barrier 11 here and would need everything to go right again. Reckon the $3.90 is unders.

Barend Vorster (54kg)
Richard & Chantelle Jolly
4yoM (ch) I’m All the Talk x Bantry Bay

BET NOW: Race 6 at Morphettville

JAMES LAMB

SANDOWN HILLSIDE (SUNDAY) – Race 1, No. 5 Cap De Joie @ $3.40

This horse looks promising and it’s dangerous to take on anything from the astute Nick Ryan stable, but Cap De Joie is likely to settle a mile off the leaders here from the carpark draw. Last start he came from near-last to score over 1600m at Bendigo but that was on a Heavy 8. He drops in distance here and strikes a firmer surface, so it might be harder to peg back the leaders.

Damien Oliver (59kg)
Nick Ryan
3yoF (b) Farhh x Cape Rosie

BET NOW: Race 1 at Sandown
