Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield’s 35-year career in the US Foreign Service includes assignments at the US Mission to the United Nations, Geneva, Switzerland, Pakistan, Kenya, The Gambia, Nigeria, and Jamaica. She worked in Washington as the Director General of the Foreign Service, the Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, and the Deputy Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs.

Ambassador Thomas-Greenfield’s 35-year career in the US Foreign Service includes assignments at the US Mission to the United Nations, Geneva, Switzerland, Pakistan, Kenya, The Gambia, Nigeria, and Jamaica. She worked in Washington as Foreign Service Director General, Assistant Secretary of State for African Affairs, and Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Bureau of Population, Refugees, and Migration. 

Dr. Phumzile Mlambo-Ngcuka, former Executive Director of UN Women and UN Under-Secretary-General, and Madame Ban Soon-taek, former First Lady of the United Nations, have previously received the UNFCU Foundation Lifetime Achievement Award.
