Family-owned Bacardi today announced the introduction of Shake Your Future in Germany in response to the growing demand for educated bartenders. Shake Your Future is a special initiative that provides young folks with the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to train as a professional mixologist. 

With an industry-wide lack of qualified bartenders, Bacardi is introducing the program for the first time in Germany. The first group of ten will participate in a four-week diploma course at a bartender training school in Berlin, where they will receive the skills and expertise required to launch a new career as a mixologist. 

Shake Your Future students will be schooled in the art of bartending and mixology before putting their newfound abilities to the ultimate test when, for one night only, the entire group takes over the management of a top Berlin bar for an entire evening’s cocktail service. The students will be responsible for delivering the ultimate cocktail experience from the moment someone walks through the door of the bar – from the way they are greeted, to the taking of the order, to the theater of mixing the drink, to the perfect serve of a cocktail that tastes as good as it looks – whether it’s a classic recipe or a creation of their own. 

If, at the end of the evening, they are judged to have passed the test by a jury of bar professionals (and, of course, consumers), the new Shake Your Future graduates will receive an internationally recognized diploma and be able to access permanent employment opportunities within the sector, allowing them to transform their lives and build a brighter future.

In 2018, Bacardi created Shake Your Future as a pilot to assist solve the youth unemployment crisis right on the doorstep of its French office, which was located in the Parisian suburb of Saint-Ouen at the time. Since then, it has spread to Spain, Italy, and many other countries outside of Europe as part of a global initiative to provide the same opportunity to 10,000 people by 2030.

Shake Your Future is held annually in each city where it is started, with an ever-growing number of bar and restaurant partners expressing their support and providing the trainees with the crucial experience they need to change their life.
