Whirlpool Poland – Jerzy and Maciejka, creative artists and parents with big hearts, founded the Family Foster House in Wierzbice. In addition to parenting their own children, they opted to adopt four special needs children. 

The family’s home is often tailored to their requirements. In 2017, for example, Habitat for Humanity Poland assisted the family by paving the route surrounding the garden so that wheelchair users could use it as well. However, after 6 years, the property needed to be refreshed: the garden had become overgrown, and the paved walkway had become unusable to wheelchair users. Furthermore, the back door to the property was unusable due to the family’s failure to keep it in excellent condition, and at some point they no longer used it.

As a consequence of these two days of work, the crew was able to modernize the house on the inside, clean it, repaint the rooms, and deal with areas that were inaccessible to the hosts, as well as bring the garden up to date, providing the family with plenty of pleasant space to enjoy over the summer. The family returned the favor with genuine gratitude, smiles, and a lovely fresh yeast cake with garden strawberries that made everyone feel at ease. 

“Our move sparked a lot of interest. It surpassed our expectations. We received a large number of applications from employees who wanted to participate in the action. As a result, we increased the number of volunteers from the original estimate. Already on the spot, our colleagues confirmed their strong dedication and eagerness to collaborate.
