Vanguard Renewables Announces CFE Seafoods Joins the Farm Powered Sustainability Heroes Program

Vanguard Renewables is pleased to announce that CFE Seafoods, based in Auburndale  has become the newest New England food and beverage producer to join the Farm Powered Sustainability Heroes Programme (FPSH). The program’s goal is to work together to reduce food waste in landfills by recycling it into sustainable energy on regional dairy farms using Farm Powered® anaerobic digestion. CFE Seafoods has joined New England Natural Bakers, Fancypants Baking Co., and Sloop Brewing Co. in a united purpose to divert food waste, combat climate change, and support dairy farmers around the region.

“We are thrilled to have CFE Seafoods join our Farm Powered Sustainability Heroes programme,” said Neil H. Smith, CEO of Vanguard Renewables. “With a long history of supplying Saltfish to grocers and some of the world’s top restaurants, they are committed to the environment and community across their business verticals and are a great addition to our Farm Powered movement.”

CFE Seafoods has been meeting the exacting needs – and tastes – of some of the world’s greatest restauranteurs and seafood grocers for over 50 years. From traditional dry-salting fish to grilled salmon on cedar planks, their lengthy seafaring legacy is present in every seafood product they offer.

CFE Seafoods’ Director of Operations and Compliance, Justin McAloon, commented, “As a leader in the salted fish industry, we believe in sustainability at every level – from how we source our products to our manufacturing process.” “Joining the Farm Powered Sustainability Heroes Programme is a natural extension of our company’s sustainability goals, and we look forward to working with our peers in the food and beverage industry to do our part to help mitigate the climate crisis.”

CFE Seafoods attributes their success to their staff, the majority of whom have been with the company for more than 20 years. Each is fully committed to the Company’s purpose of providing the greatest quality salted fish products in the industry, as well as exceptional customer service.

The FPSH programme, which began in 2022, is a regional chapter of the Farm Powered Strategic Alliance (FPSA) for New England regional and single-location food and beverage firms committed to converting food and beverage waste into renewable energy. It is a non-competitive collaboration to share best practises for environmental benefit. The FPSA was founded in 2020 with founding partners Vanguard Renewables, Dairy Farmers of America, Starbucks, and Unilever. It already includes more than 15 major food and beverage companies.

Vanguard Renewables is committed to ensuring that all food and beverage businesses, no matter how large or small, may participate in the Farm Powered effort to combat climate change.
