Rockwell Automation Helps Provide Sustainable and Traceable Raw Materials for EV Industry

Rockwell Automation offers Sustainable Raw Materials for EV Industry

Rockwell Automation –  Electra Battery Materials, a manufacturer of low-carbon, ethically sourced battery materials, is expanding its refinery in Ontario, Canada to create North America’s first integrated electric vehicle (EV) Battery Materials Park. The new recycling factory will refine cobalt, nickel, and manganese, recycle black mass and old batteries, and manufacture precursor cathode active material (pCAM).

Rockwell Automation (NYSE: ROK) industrial automation services and technology will be used to build the operations, which will provide data and reporting that is critical in the industry.”Once we’re up and running, we’ll be able to track our product from the beginning — from suppliers to customers,” noted Renata Cardoso, Electra Battery Materials’ vice president of sustainability and low carbon. “With all of this data, we’ll be able to understand, improve, and provide progress to society.”

“Automation is critical to tracking performance and delivering results,” Cardosa noted.

Electra is now in the pilot phase and plans to begin commercial operations later this year. Additional refinery and production will begin in stages between 2024 and 2025.
