Calavo Annual Sustainability Report
The 2021 Sustainability Report: The Calavo Way, published by Calavo Growers, Inc. (Nasdaq-GS: CVGW), a pioneer in the global avocado business and a supplier of value-added fresh food, demonstrates the Company’s dedication to and advancements in ESG activities.
According to Brian Kocher, CEO of Calavo, “teams across Calavo have worked to launch, develop, and align sustainability operations over the last few years to meet growing consumer, investor, and internal expectations.” “The Calavo Way stresses that all of our decision-making processes, whether they take place within our own facilities or extend to our partners, are infused with sustainability. It is encouraging to see how far we have come and to realize that there is still more to do.

Calavo is pleased with its successes and track record in ESG. Recently, it:
• has appointed a new corporate officer with explicit oversight of ESG
• Systems for improved ESG data management
• electric forklifts have replaced the fleet of propane forklifts.
• upgraded all value-added distributor facilities with LED lighting
• participated in regional demand response initiatives for energy
• recycled 49,380 tonnes of waste that had been destined for the landfill.
• increased beginning pay in our operations in Mexico so that it is at least 49% higher than the minimum wage
• Meeting new stakeholder obligations through integrated sustainability and financial reporting
• started a comprehensive evaluation of ESG programmes to create a 10-year vision
The Sustainability Accounting Standards Board’s (SASB) recommended procedures for corporate sustainability reporting were followed in the creation of the 2021 report. It introduces Calavo’s five key values—Quality, Innovation, Respect, Drive, and Stewardship—and expands upon a sustainability framework that has already been built.
