Funerals are supposedly filled with sad emotions as well as a feeling of despair and desperation. But this Funeral home in New York City is trying to change this stigma from funerals. With the use of a therapy dog, the Ballard-Durand Funeral and Cremation Services want to give their grieving customers a feeling of comfort.

The funeral home hired the services of Lulu, a licensed therapy Pooch, to help grieving people recover from their loss. The pooch is a Goldendoodle and exudes so much confidence. This trait is appreciated by many of the funeral home’s clients.

Lulu Made Everything Light

According to Chelsea Sales, the funeral home’s tactic is a breath of fresh air. She, however, lauded the efforts of the funeral home in introducing such concepts to grieving families. Chelsea recalled that during her brother’s funeral, Lulu made everything light for their family.

Chelsea said that while they were grieving, the pooch came running towards them and started comforting them. She admitted that when she saw the pooch, Chelsea began to giggling because of the dog’s cute and adorable face. Chelsea likewise said that her family liked the dog’s presence because the pooch was there to help them grieve as well as give them comfort.

Matthew Got The Idea On A Canceled Flight

This concept of a therapy pooch is a brainchild of the funeral home’s president, Matthew Fiorillo. According to Matthew, he got the idea during one of his canceled flights. Due to the canceled flight, Matthew got anxious, but when a dog appeared right in front of him, his mood changed.

Matthew then thought of adding this concept to their funeral home’s services. It was a trial and error for Matthew, but when he saw that their clients were taking it positively, he knew he had made the right decision. He couldn’t be more thankful and pleased that Lulu is doing her best to comfort all their grieving clients.
