Tips for Easy Removal of Polyurethane Glue from Hands

It is recommended to avoid direct contact with the Glue because it can cause skin irritation, including dermatitis. The first thing you can do to avoid sticking polyurethane glue to your hands is to wear gloves before starting application. However, you may still get sticky hands with strong messy glue that are difficult to remove from hands.

What to do then?

Allow it to naturally dry and peel off! You may even use skin-safe industrial hand cleaners. Even sometimes, you may need to use a tool to sand it off the hand.

How to do it methodically?

Best Method – Use Mineral Spirit

Rubbing your hands with mineral spirits will help loosen the glue and then you can use warm water to rinse the hands. Although peanut butter can be used as an alternative natural stuff to it, mineral spirits offer better result.

Alternative 1 – Use of Acetone

Another method to remove the sticky substance is to scrub it off. Use a paper towel dipped in acetone or a cotton wool soaked in water. Scrub the area for about five minutes and then rinse your hands with warm water. If the glue is still there, you can use a gritty exfoliator to remove it.

Alternative 2 – Use of Pumice Soap

You may choose to apply a pumice soap (a type of hard soap charged with a plenty gritty powder, eg, as silica, alumina, powdered pumice, etc., which assists mechanically in the removal of messy dirt. To get rid of polyurethane glue from your hands, you can use a washcloth or a hand. Simply rub the area with the soap to loosen the glue. Once the glue has loosened, you can use a plastic scraper to remove the rest. Rinse well with water. Then, examine your skin for any remaining remnants and repeat the steps if necessary.
