Harry Maguire earns the ‘Man of the Match’ award as Manchester United clinches a 2-1 victory over Sheffield.

In a hard-fought match at Bramall Lane on Saturday evening, Manchester United secured a 2-1 victory against Sheffield United.

The opening goal was scored by Scott McTominay, a graduate of the Red Devils Academy, during the first half. Sheffield responded promptly with a penalty by Oli McBurnie.

Despite Manchester United’s sustained ball possession and numerous promising goal-scoring opportunities, the score remained tied until just 13 minutes before the final whistle when Diogo Dalot scored the winning goal.

Notably, Harry Maguire was honored with the ‘Man of the Match’ award for his exceptional performance. The English defender registered 104 touches, successfully completing 76 out of 93 passes, and delivering at least 13 successful long passes. His long passes set a record as the most in any Premier League match played on that Saturday.

In his post-match comments, Manchester United’s manager, Erik ten Hag, commended Maguire for his outstanding performance.

Following the receipt of the Man of the Match award, Maguire paid tribute to the late United legend, Sir Bobby Charlton, who sadly passed away on that particular Saturday. He stated, “It’s a truly somber day, and while preparing for the game, it deeply affected us. Sir Bobby was a frequent visitor after our matches, and his presence always brightened the place. His influence in the dressing room was unmistakable, and the respect both players and staff had for him was evident. We will miss him, and the world will miss him. He was an extraordinary individual and an exceptional footballer,” added Maguire.
