Andre De Grasse was born in Markham, Ontario, on November 10, 1994. His parents, Jo-Anne and Beverley, had emigrated from the Caribbean island of Granada in the 1980s. As a young child, De Grasse was diagnosed with ADHD and he struggled in school. In an effort to keep him occupied, his mother enrolled him in track and field programs.
