Introduction

Nathan Chen, the most successful figure skater in the world, has moved! Here’s everything you need to know about his new place.

Background

Nathan Chen is a young American figure skater. He was born on May 5, 1999, in Salt Lake City, Utah. Chen started skating at the age of three. When he was eight years old, he switched from inline skating to ice skating. Chen began competing in national and international competitions in the 2014–2015 season.

Early Life

Nathan Chen was born on May 5, 1999, in Salt Lake City, Utah. His parents, Jeff and Michelle Chen, are of Chinese descent. He has an older brother, Trevor, and two older sisters: Keara, who is a former competitive figure skater, and Lauren, who is a pianist. When he was two years old, his parents enrolled him in skating classes after he became fascinated with watching his sisters skate. Chen began competing in local competitions at the age of five.

Figure Skating Career

Nathan Chen began skating at the age of three on frozen ponds in Salt Lake City, Utah. When he was six years old, he started taking formal skating lessons. His axel was his first completed jump, and he landed it after only a few months of training. From there, his progress was rapid. By age eight, Nathan was already landing quadruple jumps in practice. A year later, he won the novice division at the 2009 U.S. Championships.

In the years that followed, Nathan continued to rack up competition wins. In 2012, he became the youngest skater ever to win the World Junior Championships. He went on to repeat as world junior champion in 2013 and 2014. In 2015, he made his senior-level debut at the World Championships, where he placed fifth overall. The following year, he won his first U.S. championship title and took home bronze from the World Championships.

Nathan enjoyed a breakout season in 2017-18. He won his second consecutive U.S. title and then captured gold at both the Four Continents Championships and World Championships – becoming the first American man to win back-to-back world titles in more than two decades. His magical run continued at the 2018 Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, where he became the first American man to land five quadruple jumps in a single Olympic program (he ultimately finished fifth overall).

Move to Los Angeles

America’s most celebrated skater, Nathan Chen, has moved! The 23-year-old superstar recently relocated from Salt Lake City, where he was born and raised, to Los Angeles. He made the announcement on Instagram, sharing a photo of him in front of the Hollywood sign.

Why Nathan Chen Moved

Nathan Chen moved from Salt Lake City, Utah to Los Angeles, California to be closer to his coach, chennsation88. Chennsation88 is one of the most well-known skating coaches in the world and has worked with many Olympians and World Champions. Nathan Chen has said in interviews that he wants to be the best skater in the world and that he believes being coached by chennsation88 will help him achieve that goal.

What Nathan Chen is Up to Now

Nathan Chen has completed his move to Los Angeles, and is now training full-time at the Toyota Sports Center. The move means that he will be closer to his coach, Rafael Arutyunyan, who is also based in Los Angeles.

This isn’t the first time that Nathan has relocated for his skating career; he moved from his hometown of Salt Lake City to California at the age of 15 to train with Arutyunyan. However, this is the first time he will be living on his own; he had previously been living with relatives while he attended high school in Riverside.

Speaking about the move, Nathan said, “I’m really looking forward to being in L.A. full-time and being able to focus solely on skating. I think it will be a great environment for me to train in and I’m excited to see what the next few years hold.”

Conclusion

Chen’s move means that he is now closer to many of the country’s top skating facilities, which will give him the opportunity to train with some of the best coaches in the country. It also means that he will be able to compete in more competitions and potentially make a run at the 2022 Olympics.
