What causes a dog to be timid?

Dogs’ timidness can be changed using this simple and effective method! Generally, dogs’ excessive timidity can be classified into two categories: innate and acquired.

What causes a dog to be timid?

Innate factors are often related to breed, physical qualities, and temperament. For example, Golden Retrievers, Alaskan Malamutes, Samoyeds, and some other dog breeds.

Acquired factors include:

  • Abuse: Common in stray dogs, adopted dogs, and some inexperienced owners’ dogs. Experiences of being abused or mistreated during their early stages can leave a lasting impact on a dog’s life.
  • Insufficient socialization.
  • Imbalance in state: Dogs with imbalanced states can be considered as having psychological disorders. Some may experience significant changes in temperament due to illness, while others may develop psychological depression due to certain traumatic events. Some may exhibit aggression or melancholy due to the suppression of their natural instincts. A portion of these cases arises from the owner’s excessive spoiling, leading to psychological confusion in the dog.

In summary, a dog’s timidity is often a result of inadequate socialisation training. By taking the dog out and exposing them to different people, dogs, and things, gradual improvement can be achieved.
