A View Of My Own

They say that two people standing right next to each other may think they’re looking at the same rainbow, but they’re not!

The difference in angles of the sun’s rays traveling through the water droplets, though very Close to one another, is like comparing 2.1 to 2.2 millimeters. Close, but not close enough to be identical!

My life is made up of many experiences through which the light of God’s word passes, creating my own impression of his character and Love for me. Your experiences differ, so your view of him is going to differ from mine. But both can be true!

We’ll not exhaust the list of things to learn about who God is this side of eternity. But as long as we let the light of God’s truth shine through and then apply it to our lives, we will continue to grow in our ability to see correctly.

May it not be said of us, “For you have forgotten the God of your salvation and have not remembered the Rock of your refuge” (Isaiah 17:10 ESV).

For today, I have my own views of why we call this Friday “Good”.

  • The pain and agony I deserved was taken away and given to another, who deserved none of it (2 Corinthians 5:21).
  • Because I believe that Christ died in my place, God sees me as innocent (Romans 5:1).
  • Since he sees me this way, I have peace with God (Romans 5:1).
  • Not only are we at peace, but he has adopted me as his child (1 John 3:1).

I could continue, but I’m out of time! I would love to hear what Good Friday means to you.

This post is in response to Kate’s Five Minute Friday prompt, “Own”. Check it out, and see what others have to say!
