I Can’t See You!

On a family trip south one summer a few years ago, my husband and two of our children hiked up Mount Mitchell, the tallest peak east of the Mississippi.

I drove up with our third to “rescue” them from the top.  Once you’ve driven as far as you can, there is still a short hike to reach the summit.

I took this picture from the top of Mount Mitchell, looking at one of the nearby peaks as the clouds were rolling in.  That peak seemed to disappear as the clouds moved in, and even some trees nearby became hard to see. I knew they were still there, even if I couldn’t see them anymore.

How often does that happen in our Christian walk, and it freaks us out?  We stop being able to see God working in our lives, or don’t understand why certain things happen to us, and we think that somehow He’s just left us.

Nothing could be further from the truth.  He is there!

Moses told Joshua, The Lord Himself goes before you and will be with you; He will never leave you nor forsake you.  Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged” (Deuteronomy 31:8).

Then we read again in Hebrews 13:5, “God has said, ‘Never will I leave you; never will I forsake you.’

Don’t let your perceptions of your circumstances cause you to doubt God’s love for you or His working in your life.  His long-range plan is beyond anything you could possibly concoct on your own.

Continue following Him, obeying His Word, and one day you will see how He has used everything in your life to bring about His purposes.
