This post is about all the dorm essentials for guys
1. Microwave
College students always have leftover meals that need to be warmed up (unless you don't mind eating them cold). A microwave is great to have in a dorm. Many microwaves are compact, efficient, and affordable!
2. Mini Fridge/Freezer
Keeping food fresh and drinks cool is important when living in a dorm. Investing in a mini-fridge with a freezer will save you time and money from running to the store when you need something to eat or drink.
3. Water Filter Pitcher
Bottled water is expensive, so having a water filter pitcher in your dorm will provide clean, fresh water and allows you to save money.
4. Small Coffee Maker
Goodness! I cannot imagine getting through college without my small coffee maker, and I think it is definitely a college guy’s dorm essential!
5. Kettle
Some folks prefer to drink regular or herbal tea, hot chocolate, Milo, or Horlicks while studying in their dorm. Therefore, having a kettle in your dorm is great!
6. Bedding
Having bedding that expresses your personality will make you feel at “dorm.” Bedding includes a comforter or duvet, duvet covers, bedsheets, mattress protector, comfy pillows, and pillowcases.
7. Earphones/Airpods
Whether you want to zone out or listen to music while studying, earphones or Airpods should be on your dorm essentials list.
8. Batteries
“If I had gotten a nickel each time I’ve run out of batteries, I’d be rich!”
9. Laptop & Charger
Your laptop will become your new best friend, and you will be together most of the time. Make sure you pack it and charger before you leave home!
10. Portable Speaker
“These are perfect for creating a college vibe in your dorm.”
11. Nightstand
You need something to place all your study snacks and coffee on! Try to get a nightstand with a drawer and a door for additional storage space.
12. Bed Lamp
A bed lamp is essential for when you want to study or read a book late at night without disturbing your dorm mate.
13. Closet Organizers, Hangers & Under Bed Storage
Closet space in a dorm is limited; therefore, it is important to use alternative storage methods to make the most of your space. These include closet organizers, clothes hangers, and under-bed storage containers.
“Keeping organized is crucial during your college years in a dorm. It keeps your belongings separate from your dorm mate’s stuff.”
14. Air Purifier
For a clear mind, you need a clean and pure environment. An air purifier is a fantastic addition to any dorm.
15. Hand Vacuum Cleaner
Yes, guys, dorms need to be cleaned from time to time, and a regular vacuum cleaner might take up some much-needed space. With a handheld vacuum, you can vacuum the floor, your mattress, and all those hard-to-reach nooks and crannies.
16. Desk Fan
There is nothing worse than studying in a hot dorm during those hot summer months. My advice; a desk fan is a must-have for your dorm!
17. Water Bottle
It is crucial to stay hydrated at all times. Having a water bottle when you are on the move is essential.
18. Kitchenware
Ensure you have all the necessary college kitchenware, including a dinner plate, side plate, bowl, glass, mug, knife, fork, spoon, teaspoon, and perhaps a frying pan, small cooking pot, and a toaster.
19. Backpack
It would be best to have a strong college backpack with enough space for your books, MacBook, phone, stationery, lunch, etc. It would be best to find one that is comfortable and easy on your back.
20. Safe
Having a small safe is essential to keep all your valuables safe such as your money, bank cards, ID card, expensive watches, petty cash, etc.
21. Hamper
A hamper is essential for keeping all your dirty clothes together until it is time to do your laundry.
22. Stationary
College stationery includes a calculator, pens, pencils, a ruler, correction pen, highlighters, pencil sharpener, eraser, post-it notes, glue stick, notebooks, flip files, binders, folders, index cards, etc.
“It would be best to make a list of all the stationary you need for college to ensure you don’t forget anything.”
23. College Planner
You will only understand how important it is to have a good college planner until you realize that there are so many things to remember. There are plenty of great college planners for guys.
24. Whiteboard & Markers
A whiteboard against your wall is the perfect tool to help you study, plan projects, or remember which parties to go to! Make sure you have markers to write with and a whiteboard cloth for cleaning.
25. Toiletries & Bathroom Accessories
Ensure to pack all the essential toiletries and bathroom accessories, including: body wash, shampoo, conditioner, hair gel, razors, shaving cream, aftershave, face wash, face cream, face cream, body lotion, face cloth or scrunchie, hand sanitizer, shower caddy, shower shoes, a toothbrush and toothpaste, towels, dental floss, mouth wash, deodorant, nail clippers, etc.
26. Mattress Pad
Dorm Mattresses are known for being tough and hard so in order to ensure a good night's rest, make sure you invest in a mattress pad.
27. First Aid Kit
I found this one to be one of the most important things to have when going to college. There are plenty of activities and sports where you could get hurt, and you will have to take care of cuts and other minor injuries with a first aid kit.
28. Painkillers
This one needs no introduction or explanation. You will be doing a lot of thinking in college, and it is very common to experience headaches from time to time.
It would be wise to always have painkillers for such emergencies.
29. Clothes, Underwear & Shoes
This is no surprise; you will need clothes, underwear, and shoes for occasions such as formal events, class, parties, sports gear, exercise or training, etc.
The items you decide to take to your college dorm depend on what you think you’ll need.
