What is the Duration of a Usual Audiobook?

A 200-page book is usually readable in a 5-7-hour audiobook.

So, in audio format, the book reads at a speed of 30 pages in one hour, although the length of the audiobook depends on factors such as reading speed, number of words per page, and so on.

Besides, some listening tools allow you to speed up or minimize your reading speed (by the way: here is an amazing guide on how you can increase reading speed) – you can listen to an accelerated book even at 50-60 pages at an hourly rate.

Audiobook Format

Audiobooks are distributed on CD media, but the recording format is usually MP3.

So, if you are going to listen to paid or free audiobooks on YouTube or anywhere else, make sure your car player recognizes this format. Usually, supported formats are listed on the player itself. The word you are looking for – is MP3.

There are a couple of reasons why you need this format:

First, the standard Audio CD can hold only 80 minutes of audio, so it means – 200 pages. The book would need 5-6 discs. Second, mp3 files are much easier to transfer to other devices, such as computers, iPods, or smartphones.

When to Listen to Audiobooks?

Want to know the best part about audiobooks?

To my mind – it is the best way to improve your knowledge about particular things and general education and enjoy an amazing story.

Listening to Audiobooks is possible at any time – take your phone and earphones, and you are ready to go.

  • For a longer trip by car, bike, bus, train, plane, boat, or airship, the audiobook is an indispensable companion.
  • While exercising. The audiobook is compatible with almost any sport. If you can listen to music, you can also listen to audiobooks.
  • In the queue. When there are long waiting times in the medical center, hairdressers, or you are just standing in a long line – just put on earphones and listen to the audiobook. Time will go faster and be spent more useful.
