Police Crackdown on IPL Betting Racket: Multiple Arrests Made in Silchar and Bongaigaon

The arrests of Gautam Rai and Rupak Modak by police in Cachar represent a significant break in the case of an Indian Premier League (IPL) betting ring. The police moved promptly to crack down on the unlawful gambling activity during the match between Royal Challengers Bangalore and Sunrisers Hyderabad.

The authorities collected a laptop, eight mobile phones, and other incriminating papers during the operation, all linked to the duo’s participation in illegal betting activities. Authorities are ramping up their attempts to collect additional evidence and map out the full scope of the bookmakers’ operation.

Earlier this month, in a separate instance, the Bongaigaon Police arrested Surendra Jain, who was thought to be the Ipl Betting operation’s mastermind. Jain, a well-known local businessman who owns many properties, was accused of being the mastermind behind the Bongaigaon gambling activities and having contacts with other bookmakers in the area.

Recent arrests have revealed an overall IPL betting black market that spans many Indian states. The police are diligently looking into the incidents to learn more information and identify the perpetrators of these crimes.
