AT&T outage: Everything you need to know about the massive AT&T outage

How many individuals experienced service outages? When was the service reinstated? Here’s a brief summary of the essential information.

When did the AT&T outage start?

Around 4 a.m. ET on Thursday, February 22, AT&T’s network experienced over 32,000 outages. By 7 a.m., the number of affected individuals had risen to more than 50,000. According to the Down Detector website, nearly 75,000 outage reports were recorded just before 9:15 a.m. ET.

Is the AT&T outage over?

Fortunately, the AT&T service disruption has come to an end. By 11:15 a.m. ET, the company had recovered “three-quarters” of its network. Later, at 3:10 p.m. ET, AT&T announced that it had “reestablished wireless service for all our impacted customers.”

AT&T also stated: “We deeply regret the inconvenience caused to them. Our commitment to keeping our customers connected is unwavering, and we are implementing measures to prevent a recurrence of this issue in the future.”

Where was the AT&T outage happening?

Once more, based on information from Down Detector, it seems that the AT&T outage had the greatest impact on areas such as Dallas, Houston, Los Angeles, and Atlanta. There were also reports of outages in various parts of Florida, Michigan, and New York.

Apart from the reports on the Down Detector website, you can also check AT&T’s outage map to find out if there are any documented problems in your particular location.

Cell Service Outage

While AT&T bore the brunt of the problems, it was not the sole cellular provider facing ongoing outages. Cricket Wireless, a prepaid carrier utilizing AT&T’s network, also had over 12,000 outage reports as of 9:15 a.m. ET. Verizon experienced a surge in outage reports, with over 4,000 this morning, along with rising reports for Consumer Cellular, T-Mobile, Boost Mobile, US Cellular, and Straight Talk.

Verizon and T-Mobile have both confirmed that their networks were not directly affected by service outages. Reports on sites like Down Detector were likely due to Verizon and T-Mobile users attempting to contact AT&T users via calls or texts.
