Who performed at the Super Bowl Halftime Show 2024

Super Bowl Halftime Show 2024:

Prior to the Kansas City Chiefs and the San Francisco 49ers competing on the field, the pregame entertainment featured Reba McEntire singing the national anthem, as well as performances by Andra Day and Post Malone.

Who performed in the Super Bowl halftime show for 2024?

Usher’s performance at the Apple Music Super Bowl LVIII Halftime Show was first announced in September.

“It’s an honor of a lifetime to finally check a Super Bowl performance off my bucket list. I can’t wait to bring the world a show unlike anything else they’ve seen from me before,” Usher said at the time.

“You know, everybody says they want to win a Grammy, or they want to win an Oscar, or a Tony, or an Emmy. A Super Bowl is something that everybody wants to play,” he said. “And here it is. It happened.”

The artist, who has won eight Grammy awards, has been a popular attraction in Las Vegas for the last year with a residency that exceeded all predictions. He acknowledges that he is constantly inspired by the legendary performers who have preceded him.

“I mean the history of African Americans who had to perform here and couldn’t go through the actual casinos… now, to be here, the residency, it’s like, man. What a whirlwind,” he said.

“He entrusted me with the responsibility of ensuring that I did not overlook the cultural significance. That’s the main thing he emphasized. ‘We’re doing this for the culture,’ Usher said. ‘I want you to perform the songs that we love and are known for. Give them the moments that they eagerly anticipate,’ like, ‘Do it for the culture.’ And I responded, ‘Okay, I understand and I will deliver.'”

Usher joined by special guests at Super Bowl halftime show

Usher is set to take the stage during the halftime show at the 2024 Super Bowl in Nevada on Sunday, February 11. Previously, Usher was seen performing at the 51st annual Songwriters Hall of Fame induction and awards gala at the New York Marriott Marquis Hotel on Thursday, June 16, 2022, in New York.

It has been thirty years since Usher Raymond IV, at the age of 16, released his first self-titled album. Although the album didn’t sell well, the young singer from Texas quickly rebounded with his second album “My Way” in 1997, which catapulted him to the top of the R&B and pop charts with hits like “You Make Me Wanna…” and “Nice & Slow.” Usher went on to have a successful career with numerous best-selling albums and singles over the next decade, many of which will hopefully be performed or referenced during his Super Bowl set.

WHAT WILL USHER PERFORM?

Usher recently concluded a fully booked 100-date residency in Las Vegas, starting at Ceaser’s in 2021 but eventually moving to the larger venue at the Park MGM after 18 shows to accommodate his passionate and predominantly female fanbase. Despite some fans missing the show, there have been numerous viral videos of Usher engaging closely with some of his celebrity guests, such as Kim Kardashian.

Considering this, it is reasonable to expect that Usher’s 13-minute performance will focus on his popular songs and possibly feature one or two guest appearances. Typically, slow songs are limited during halftime shows, but Usher’s repertoire includes a number of smooth and funky tunes like “You Make Me Wanna…,” “Confessions II,” “There Goes My Baby,” and “U Remind Me,” which are likely to be included in a medley.

Honestly, it would be a huge letdown and a missed opportunity if Lil’ Jon doesn’t make an appearance on the field at some point. I strongly advocate for the Atlanta producer to descend from the rafters of Allegiant Stadium in a large, sparkling pimp chalice, shouting his iconic “OH-KAY!!!” Lil’ Jon’s participation would guarantee an energetic rendition of the popular strip and dance club hit “Yeah!”
