OnePlus Open : New Era of Folding Phone with Sony Lens

OnePlus is yet to announce the official launch date of its first Folding Phone, likely to be called Oneplus Open. Ahead of the official launch, leaks and rumours have revealed most of its expected specifications. A new leak now points out that the OnePlus Open might be more durable than the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, thanks to more hinges.

As per information shared by Max Jambor, a prominent tipster on X, the OnePlus Open has successfully withstood more than 400,000 folds during internal testing. In contrast, Samsung has stated that the Galaxy Z Fold 5 is designed to handle a minimum of 200,000 folds, implying potential wear and tear beyond this point.

The X post mentions, “OnePlus Open has evidently undergone extensive testing, enduring 400,000 or more folding cycles. This is equivalent to approximately 100 folds per day for up to 10 years.”

Although the exact launch date for the OnePlus Open remains uncertain, prior leaks have suggested that it might be priced under Rs 1.2 lakh in India, making it a more affordable option compared to the Samsung Galaxy Z Fold 5, which is priced at Rs 1,54,999. It’s worth noting that the most budget-friendly folding phone currently available is the one by Tenco, priced at Rs 88,888. Additionally, Google has its Pixel Fold, although it hasn’t been launched in India.

One Plus Open Feature

OnePlus is rumored to equip its upcoming foldable smartphone, the OnePlus One, with the yet-to-be-announced Snapdragon 8+ Gen 2 SoC by Qualcomm. The phone is also rumored to have a 2K 120Hz AMOLED (LTPO) display, but the exact sizes of the inner and outer displays are unknown. Based on leaked renders, the OnePlus One looks wider and similar to the Oppo Find N.

In terms of battery, the OnePlus One is rumored to have a 4800mAh battery with 100W SuperVOOC charging support. As a flagship device, OnePlus may also consider incorporating wireless charging support.

The rear camera system is expected to be a highlight, with three camera sensors tuned by Hasselblad. The configuration may consist of a 50-megapixel (IMX 890) primary camera, an ultra-wide camera, and a periscope lens. For selfies, the OnePlus One is rumored to have a 32-megapixel selfie snapper within a hole-punch cutout on the cover display. There could be an additional selfie camera on the main display.

The OnePlus One is still rumored, so it is possible that some of these specifications may change. However, this is a good overview of what we can expect from the phone.
