2 Hurt, Driver Detained After Smashing Into Tobacco Store on Imperial Highway

 
BREA, CA (October 23, 2023) — Two people reported injuries when a driver crashed into a tobacco store on Imperial Highway near Catalpa Avenue.
 
According to the California Highway Patrol, the crash happened around 4:40 p.m. Thursday. For DUI-related reasons, a driver pressed the accelerator pedal and crashed into Tobacco Buzz on West Imperial Highway. Subsequently, the vehicle mowed down shelves and littered the store with items.
 
As a result, two people, including a customer, suffered moderate injuries in the accident.
 
In the surveillance footage, one man appears to have dodged the vehicle as he had his back turned.
 
In the event of the accident, the building sustained major damage and was red-tagged by the city code enforcement. Following the investigation, police arrested the woman on suspicion of DUI.
