Speeding Wrong-Way Driver of Stolen SUV Causes Deadly Crash in Pasadena

 
PASADENA, CA (October 21, 2023) – Antonio Mendoza Hernandez and Veralice Yanira Membreno Orellana died in a hit-and-run crash in Pasadena Wednesday evening on October 18.
 
The fatal crash happened around 9:15 p.m. near the intersection of North Raymond Avenue and East Penn Street. According to the Pasadena Police Department, a man was speeding in a stolen Lincoln Navigator and was driving the wrong way.
 
The Navigator overtook another car, went through the stop sign and struck a Nissan Versa that was heading east on Penn Street. It then hit a parked car on Raymond Avenue.
 
After the crash, the Navigator driver and passenger, described as men in their 20s, got out of the SUV and fled the scene.
 
Hernandez, 63, was the driver of the Nissan. He died at the scene. Orellana, 33, was his passenger, who later died at the hospital.
 
At this time, the hit-and-run suspects remain at large.
