Vehicle Crashes into Water in Courtland Killing Two Women

 
COURTLAND, CA (October 9, 2023) – Yolanda De La Cruz Rivas and Isabel Diaz Ramirez died in a car accident in Courtland Thursday afternoon on October 5.
 
The fatal accident happened in the area of Sutter Slough Bridge Road and Sutter Island Road. According to the California Highway Patrol, a vehicle carrying five people from Stockton submerged into the water in unclear circumstances.
 
Rivas, 47, and Ramirez, 49, both died at the scene.
 
An air ambulance took a 3-month-old infant to UC Davis Medical Center in critical condition.
 
A 24-year-old woman in the back seat and a nearly 2-year-old toddler were also taken to the hospital in unknown conditions.
 
CHP officials did not consider alcohol as a factor in the crash.
 
The vehicle has been removed from the river and kept for processing while an investigation continues.
