Motorcycle Rider Dies after Crash with Two Cars on Phelan Road

 
PHELAN, CA (October 8, 2023) – A motorcyclist was killed in a hit-and-run crash on Phelan Road Thursday evening on October 5.
 
The fatal accident happened around 10:23 p.m. near Verbena Road. According to California Highway Patrol, a speeding BMW was traveling westbound when it rear-ended the victim who was riding a 2000 Yamaha XVS 1100 motorcycle.
 
After the crash, the driver of the BMW fled the scene.
 
The motorcyclist was ejected from his bike. While he was lying on the ground, a white 2021 Honda Pilot, driven by a 42-year-old Phelan resident, also struck him. The Honda driver stayed and cooperated with officers.
 
San Bernardino County Fire responded and pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene.
 
The victim was only identified as a 42-year-old Hesperia man.
 
The CHP Victorville Area is handling the investigation. They urged anyone with further information to contact them at 760-241-1186.
