Vehicle Hits Bicyclist Riding in Unsafe Manner on South Main Street in Porterville

 
PORTERVILLE, CA (October 6, 2023) – A man was hospitalized in a bicycle accident on South Main Street in Porterville Saturday afternoon on September 30.
 
According to the Porterville Police Department, the 21-year-old man was riding his bicycle northbound in the southbound lanes of travel, within the 700 block of South Main Street. During that time, he was riding in an unsafe manner when he collided with a vehicle around 3:10 p.m.
 
As a result of the crash, the bicyclist was ejected from his bike and sustained significant injuries. Paramedics took him to an area hospital for further medical treatment.
 
It is unknown if drugs or alcohol was a factor. Police are still investigating the accident.
